The National Diversity Foundation

NDF is a leading national diversity association concerned with the quality, practices, and public status of diversity education.  This for-profit organization has a Board and members who are committed to extending the advantage of diversity knowledge to all.  Founded by Beverly Dwyer, Rhode Island’s former state diversity director, and other colleagues, NDF now represents a comprehensive research, educational, and service based diversity organization.  NDF organizes its work around broad goals:

Preparing Citizenry for an Era of Expectations for Peace, Unity, Harmony, and Cultural Competencies

Creating Inclusive Environments

NDF seeks to accentuate the belief that excellence is achieved through inclusion.  NDF also seeks to bridge disparities in economic and social conditions through knowledge, respect and responsibility.  NDF firmly believes that it is necessary to raise levels of diversity understanding for current and future generations.  NDF is designed to assist organizations and individuals in a diverse but stratified society, and it will provide programs that capture the full span of human expressions of thought, leadership, and responsible action.

NDF engages in multiple projects that increase organizational leadership and learning, support high levels of achievement, and strengthen pathways toward diversity competency.  NDF combines knowledge of diversity and equity with the concern for educational quality.  NDF provides diversity leadership on issues related to minorities, women, and individuals with disabilities.  The focus is in educational, business, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations.

NDF links diversity and civic engagement in powerful, effective, and educationally transforming ways.  NDF features new conceptual frameworks for civic learning, curricular designs that explicitly address the connection between diversity and civics, community engagement that moves from charity to partnerships, models that practice community-based learning, and research about diversity learning and projects.

NDF aims to reflect the diversity of American society and the world.

Educating All Sectors for a World that Values Diversity

Through its actions, meetings, public advocacy, academic and business-based projects, NDF is a powerful voice on the importance of diversity.  NDF works to reinforce the commitment to diversity at both the national and the local levels and to help individuals and organizations keep diversity at the core of their existence as they evolve to meet new economic and social challenges.  With a national stature, NDF is an influential catalyst for improvement and reform in today’s complex world.

NDF is also a community of leaders from all occupations.  Its projects, publications, and meetings develop broad-based leadership, bringing leaders together across sectors, divisions, and disciplines to explore the value of diversity and strategies to foster positive changes within institutions and ourselves.  Through NDF projects, publications, forums, and collaboratives, people across the country have opportunities to learn from one another and to influence the national dialogue about the central purposes of diversity, the changing nature and increasing importance of diversity, and the most effective means of optimizing talent, relationships, and cultural sensitivity.
